This is a Continental silver, likely sterling 925, Victorian era ladies bar pin. The C-Clasp closure on this dates it to just about 1870. The bar pin features a crescent moon and the profile of a Roman or Trojan soldier. In the Victorian era, the crescent moon was a symbolism for new beginnings. It was popularly used on jewelry throughout the 19th century. The texturized surface is a stylization of lizard skin. The pieces were press molded, not carved. It is not bronze, nor militaria. The estimate is based on actual past auction sales of comparables.
