Hello! I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal. Considering the photos, this item is:
A rare Chinese Kuan Yin or Guanyin Buddha. Guanyin, Guan Yin or Kuan Yin is the Buddhist bodhisttava associated with compassion. It is the East Asian equivalent of Avalokiteśvara and has been adopted by other Eastern religions. It is the depiction of mercy, forgiveness.
It is depicted in a standing position. The Buddha’s right hand, now damaged, would have been held in abhaya mudra, a gesture of approachability. He wears the robes of a monk, but his urna (the dot on his forehead) and his extended earlobes denote his status as the Buddha. It seated on a wooden base.
It misses a hand, as it is removable, as according to Chinese tradition, Kwan Yin will literally "lend a hand" to those in dire need, which is why the statue's hand is removable.
