Description

I recently acquired this item. I assume it is Buddhist. It consists of 3 metals, copper, bronze?, silver and a black metallic foil. It is about 50cm in diameter and rather heavy. Any idea what it is and worth?

What does this mean?

Dear Keith,

An Indian plaque made for decoratie purposes and I believe made for export. Its depicting not Buddhist but Hindu scene's of daily life with religious aspects in it. The figures are not easy to identify. You mention the middle plaque to be of silver. That is adding to the value. I must say I cannot verify that but color looks ok. Could be silver plated but that is not common in India. I believe its made around 1920 / 1930. Its very decorative and I think due to the quality and the different use of materials its will be possible to sell in an local auction house. I would advise to use the services of an auction house with prescription to online platforms as Invaluable or live auctioneers, but there are others. These objects have international interested and therefor need this type of exposure in order to made a fair price.
