12 -13 inches long, 1.5 inches wide. Made of wood. Some kind of smooth really nice wood
I bought it at a yardsale 30 years ago. Old army guy.
Dear Austin,
Thank you for your request. The presented object is a so-called bullroar made out of carved wood. It is decorated with a geometrical decor and a carving of a reptile or snake. A bullroar is an ancient ritual musical instrument and a device historically used for communicating over great distances. This piece was probably made in New Guinea or Australia in the late 19th or 20th century.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 200 to 400 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
Dear Austin,
Tribal art is not easy to sell. Nevertheless, this is an old piece and not a piece just made as a souvenir for tourists.
With kind regards,
Georg
I put it on Ebay. Its funny I bought that when I was in elementary school. My Mom kept it this whole time.
Dear Austin,
Put it on eBay with a fixed price and allow worldwide shipping. Use the keywords "Tribal art", Oceanic art", "New Guinea". It is like fishing, wait and see what happens.
With kind regards,
Georg
Already did all those things. I have a 100% positive feedback on ebay. I just wanted to say you guys have been very helpful, and well worth the 15 bucks. You seem reputable to me, but I am no expert. So Georg, you want a antique Bullroar? For you 150$ lol
It sold thanks again
Thanks, hope someone out there would want it. That's the hard part.
