Caldwell Oil Lamp Converted to Electric
The information from the underside of the brass lamp is: J E Caldwell & Co, Phila, Pa March 1892 Patent. The globe is not original to the lamp. It measures 10.5” from base to the ring that holds the globe. And the lamp is 6” at its widest spot.
The story from my father regarding this lamp is that his father (my grandfather) converter this lamp from oil to electric sometime in the 40’s. I had this lamp polished and re-wired about 10 years ago.

The conversion, and later rewiring, as well as the replaced globe shade, all devalue this lamp which would be worth $200-300 if it were in its original condition.

Made by JE Caldwell, Philadelphia, late 19th/early 20th Century (design patent 1892, may have been made after)
with later etched glass globe, later converted then wired
10 1/2 inches high
