Oil Painting, 29x24
I Bought this painting from the Good Will store,
This is actually a modern framed giclee on canvas print of a still life that has been treated with a varnish to create a craquelaire surface finish and then signed with an unlisted artist name. This was likely produced in China and it is intended more as decorative wall art. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
In-person and on-site assessments do cost that much, I personally charge $150 an hour for such services. Yes, the 'cracks are real', however they are created using a surface treatment, like faux finishing.
I apologize if I offended you...One more thing I like to add that modern frame I put it on there, I forgot I did that. Didn't catch it until I read your appraisal the second time. The frame that was originally on there, looked old and worn, not knowing what I had I put a new frame on it...Just thought I mention that..It still may not be no more than a extra ten dollar for mentioning that.
I just would like to say, those are real cracks in that painting, Please don't think I'm questioning your estimate, but maybe I need to take close up photo, like I did with the second painting. I do appreciate your timely responds, and the money I saved. I ask a so expert how must would he charge me to see if these painting are worth appraising, he said $100.00 just to look at one. So you would imagine to my surprise to find your website. That was an answered prayer. I have has these painting for years because I couldn't afford, what they were asking for to get them appraised. "$15.00 to find out the painting was worth only 20-$60. Thank You.
