Hi Juan,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
There is a wonderful Spanish tradition of "Santos" figures - carved representations of Catholic saints and other devotional figures that are usually carved in wood and painted or gilded with gold. Bultos are fully carved, three-dimensional figures while retablos are painted panels.
Creche scenes are part of this tradition and I suspect you have a santos Creche Christ child, probably from the 19th Century, given its size. The hole in its backside indicates this would have been mounted on something. Other examples that have sold at auction recently have brought prices ranging from $50-150.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Spanish carved and polychromed Christ child Santos figure
probably 19th Century
Length: 11 inches
CONDITION: This appears to be in good condition.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
