Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to carved wood relief, intricately carved with herons or cranes within foliage, similar to the well known 100 cranes motif. Cranes or herons play an important role in Chinese mythology. The crane is venerated as the prince of all feathered creatures and therefore has a legendary status. The crane embodies longevity and peace and is one of the favorite birds in chinese culture, right after the phoenix. The carving has been framed with a mirror for display.
