Thanks for the additional photo and information; I've updated the materials and where it is signed.
It is interesting that the certificate of authenticity says that it is "in the manner of" (which in the art world means "like") rather than saying that this is BY Basquiat. It makes a big difference in value.
Also, please note that the value Mearto assigns are Fair Market for auction purposes; the value given by Gallery 64 is an insurance value for replace, which is ALWAYS a higher value than for Fair Market.
The accepted authority in the case of Basquiat is his estate.
My value assumes that this is by him but lacking confirmation and authentication by the expert. If I were to change this to "in the manner of Basquiat," I would need to lower the value to $7,000-10,000.
Let me know if you'd like me to leave as is or if you'd like me to change this to say "In the Manner of..." and reduce the value.
