I got this painting at a yard sale in Atkins Arkansas. The area abound where I got it is rich in history that is in the era where the landscape artists were was at its peak. The stage coach came through bringing all who ventured west including some of the famous landscape artists of the 19th century. Halfway between little rock and ft. Smith was a small town by the name of Pottsville after the man that settled on over 100 acres he purchased on Galla creek. He made a post office for the stage coach, a banquet hall and an Inn. I suspect the painter may have came in in a stagecoach and left the painting unframed and possibly donated it to a church or something.. his is speculation and my eye is untrained but my hurt tells me this painting is something. It seems to be Galla creek and notice the small bluff if to the right midway up notice the Dead tree in the center of all the life which seems inductive of painters of those days . The line is not a fold but from the frame that appears to have been put on later and really messed the painting up . I'd love to learn more about it but it's unsigned . I'm hoping it's a piece of history I'll upload pictures of frame but as I said I think it was added later by someone that didn't realize they were messing it up not helping it
