24X39 material is rigid , not canvas , can't make out signature in lower left corner . I';m 78 years old and can't remember when this wasn't in my parents home . Am not thinking it to be a master piece as my family was poor but do not know where they obtained it . Would appreciate anything you can tell me so as I pass it on they can know its history .
From my parents home .
Thank you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a faded print on embossed structured paper after a painting by Alex DE ANDREIS (French or Belgian?, 1871 - 1929), who obviously used photographs of actors as a basis for his paintings. He was very popular at the time and these prints were sold the world over. His success might have been coincidal with The Three Musketeers movie ( 1921). There is obviously a sentimental value to you and the determination in this soldier´s face would be inspirational, but the market value is low.
