Craigslist, seller stated her grandmother purchased at an antique dealer in Florence and had it flown back to the US in the 60s and it has been in her family since.
This is an antique, 19th century, Rococo Revival style porcelain or faience (glazed earthenware) 'kachelofen' that would have been used for heating a room. Most were produced in Germany, however these were also made throughout Europe, thus should be best catalogued as 'Continental'. Kachelofen's are fine pieces, however they are a bit of a hard sell as they do not aesthetically fit in with most modern home decor and are quite difficult to transport. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
