Hi Paul,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
If you'd like for your appraisal to include dimensions, which is customary, please forward in the comments section - at your convenience - the overall height, width and depth and I'll update this ASAP.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A set of four Gothic Revival carved cherry or walnut leather-upholstered side chairs
unattributed maker, American or English, late 19th Century
Each with carved ears, pierced trefoil carved backs with arched lancet-form spindles flanked by twisted stiles, over trapezoidal seats over-the-rail leather upholstered seats with brass tack trim, raised on twisted front legs and rectangular-section rear legs, joined by an H-stretcher.
39 1/4 inches high, 18 inches wide at back of seat, 17 inches deep
CONDITION: the one chair photographed appears to be in good condition with wear commensurate to age, most notably cracking and some surface losses. Value assumes all other chairs are of similar condition.
$700-1,000 for the set*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you again for using Mearto.
Ahlers & Ogletree is good and does online as well as live auctions; I don't know what their minimums for consignment are or if they'd take this set but they're one of the best Atlanta area auction houses, with a global reach.
Thank you for the quick reply, here are the dimensions, the overall height 39 1/4", width 18" at the back of the seat and depth 17".
Also can you recommend a web site of place in the Atlanta area that we could look to sell them?
