Hi Kurt,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The upper cabinet section could be 18th Century (and I've appraised it as 18th Century) and would likely have sat on a different looking base. The frame it now sits on looks later, 19th century at the earliest.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A late Chippendale mahogany glazed cabinet on stand
Cabinet possibly late 18th Century; frame 19th or 20th Century
In two sections, the upper with broken swan's neck pediment flanking a central finial plinth (possibly lacking a central finial) over two glazed (glass) and mullioned cabinet doors opening to a shelved interior, on a separate frame raised on short cabriole legs ending in carved paw feet.
overall height 52 inches; width 42 inches; depth 18 inches
CONDITION: top and base associated. According to client, this needs some work on the trim. Skeleton key broken off. Back needs to be re-nailed.
PROVENANCE: acquired in Virginia
