My passed away 4 years ago, at the age of 82 and she treasured this Chinese set which belonged, I believe to her mother or grandmother.
Inherited from my mother
Thanky you for submitting your item for appraisal. This appears to be a 1930s japanese transfer printed and hand painted, partly gilt tea set by Fukagawa porcelain factory. The very thin porcelain is just perfect for tea, and this particular design has been very popular the world over. Most of the design is transfer printed, only a few washes of colour and the gilding are applied by hand. The printed silhouette with stream porcelain mark is usually associated with the Fukagawa porcelain factory ( founded in 1894) in the Arita region of Japan. The estimate is based on similar items sold at auction. There is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to it.
