What does this mean?

Dear Gregory,

What a beautiful and decorative pair of 20th century, Chinese, turquoise glazed ceramic foo dogs you have. The impressed "CHINA" on the base points to a 20th century date, rather than 19th century or earlier.

Because of the global popularity of Chinese Foo Dogs in a vibrant turquoise glaze, China has been manufacturing similar sculptures for several generations. Comparable early 20th century examples which are free of chips, cracks and repairs, which come to auction, usually sell in the range of $40USD to $60USD.

Thank you for submitting to Mearto and if you have any follow-up questions, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Erin-Marie
