Hand painted, glazed porcelain laughing Buddha. Approximately 10" tall x 12" wide x 8" deep. Weighs approximately 7-10lbs. Signed and stamped on the bottom. Excellent condition, no cracks, chips, breaks or fading.
My mother inlaw had it forever. Have no idea where she acquired it from.
Nice Cantonese, so Chinese Buddha made in ca. 1930. This is called republic period in China. These buddha's were made in a mold and hand painted afterwards. Black mark is a incantation against illness. The impressed mark is not clearly visible but that is not a problem. Usually they are marked Chienlung / Kangxi or other old emperor in his honor. So its not of that period anyway and does not add to value or getting precise date. Color palette is called Famille rose because pink is a part of the color scheme. Buddha's like these are sought after so price can go, in the right place and time, a little bit above max estimate.
