Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
It is a beautiful imperial silk robe. Such antique imperial robes are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
This appears to be a late Qing Dynasty early 20th century Chinese robe of typical form in blue silk decorated with 8 five-clawed Imperial dragons amid formal clouds chasing the flaming pearl, among cloud formation. All hand embroidered in gold and coloured thread. It appears to be an imperial robe from a medium ranking official.
It has a lovely design and the condition of the robe appears to be fairly good with some minor loose threads and a loose string under one arm.
These robes tend to be very sought after at auction and prices may surprise however taken into account the
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised Asian art auction, where I believe the imperial robe has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the beautiful imperial robe. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
