Two 14" X 37" framed silk art paintings. They depict bird and floral scenes with inscriptions.
The art was a gift to my parents from their son-in-law, a Chinese doctor. The gift was made in the 1970s. After my parents died, the art was boxed and kept in storage until now.
Hello Robert,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, textile quality and the colours, I concluded that this is a Hand Embroidered and framed Pair of Chinese Scrolls, dating back to the period between 1960-1980. The pieces are designed in a very modern and contemporary pattern, which can be seen with the minimalistic decoration of the piece. Both pieces are made of silk material with likely cotton embroidered motifs on it. The precision on the item is very high and the quality is quite satisfactory for the period. I've also investigated the seals and the writings, writings does explain the floral paterns and the seals are used commonly between the indicated dates. Both piece has a floral pattern enriched by birds and butterflies.
