This washi fabric painting features a warrior pointing out to ships on the water including turtle boats with a mountain in the background. There are three red stamps and written lanquage on the face of the painting. It measures 18.5x12.5inches. Behind the white fabric paper (on which the painting is on) there is a thin red layer of paper.
It was found at auction.
This is a vintage 20th century printed image with hand embellishment from Japan. The warrior is a Japanese Samurai in armour. Washi paper is a traditional Japanese form of hand made paper produced using natural fibers from the mulberry bush, mitsumata shrub and gampi tree. The print technique used on this is similar to traditional Japanese woodblocks. The estimate is based on actual past recorded auctions of comparables.
Thanks for the feedback. I was hoping to get information on the artist. Happy New Year!
