Mahogany wood (I think) Chippendale Card Table. With tabletop folded in half, the dimensions are 31” tall x 36” front length at longest point x 17.5 width.
Belonged to my husband’s great grandparents. We inherited it from the estate of Michael & Henrietta Kragelund. They lived in Denmark in the 1800’s.
This is an antique, 3rd quarter 19th century, Queen Anne style game or card table on cabriole legs with pad feet with a drop leaf and swivel top that extends for porringer form table top. The hardware used is not period to the original Queen Anne period of the early 18th century. The top appears to be solid mahogany pieces, whereas the apron, or side of the table are mahogany veneer and the secondary wood is machine cut. If it were a period piece, the veneer would be thicker as the ability to thin cut veneer in the early 18th century was not yet possible. The wood for the legs may have been older and pre-date when the table was actually made as there is a fair amount of worm holing in the wood. The interior secondary wood at the bottom of the table is damaged. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
