There are no manufacture tags on either chair. There is sun damage, but was thinking of having them reupholstered. I’m worried doing so might bring down the value and would like to know more about what I have.
They were given to me from a friend but I don’t know when they we’re putchased, made etc
Good morning, Angela,
Thank you for submitting photographs for appraisal at Mearto.
You have a pair of Louis XV style carved walnut wing armchairs in the provincial taste, circa 1900. I can see the sunfading in the photographs but these chairs have little demand in the market at the moment that it does not impact the value very much. It would not devalue them to have them upholstered, though you would probably not increase the value - or at least not by much - if you had them reupholstered. As long as the chairs are comfortable and sturdy, there is no reason not to continue using and enjoying them, as you have been doing.
I hope this information is useful to you. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
