Dear Pata,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. My sincere apologies for the delay with the appraisal.
The presented object appears to be a US Army regulation 1850 pattern foot officer's sword with a scabbard. This Civil War presentation sword has an etched decor by Tiffany & Co and the ricasso of the blade is marked by Collins & Co. A metal fitting of the scabbard indicates that this sword was presented to Thomas Donnelly Doubleday (1816-1864) who was a bookstore owner and a Union Army officer in the American Civil War.
That means the sword was assembled, personalized with the engraving on the scabbard by Tiffany & Co.
