Dear Teri,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. So that I may best assist you, can you please upload a few images of the silver stamps. From the photos it may look as if it is a silverplated mounting which is why i need to see the stamps to make sure what kind of material it is made of.
Thanks
I polished it up a bit and uploaded more images.
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry. And thank you for the additional photos.
It is a beautiful crystal claret jug. Such antique claret jugs are being offered at auction on a regular basis.
The glass jug is made of beautiful cut crystal glass which is often seen on these claret jugs dating from the late 19th century and early 20th century. The silverplated mounting looks french and the decorations and style is also typical of the late 19th century/early 20th century. It is a beautiful claret jug.
The estimate provided is for a well-advertised specialised online silver auction, where I believe the Claret jug has the best chance of realising its fullest potential. However, there is no measurement for the sentimental value you might attach to the crystal claret jug. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I’m happy to help.
Thank you
