Cast Iron Roll Top 1540 Clawfoot Bath Tub Length is 5 feet Width is 31 inch Weight is over 200 pounds. There were a lot of molded markings on the bottom of the tub seen in photos. No markings on the inside of the tub.
Found this item in the free list on craigslist (the ad is in photos), After meeting with the one who made the ad it was clear that she had little knowledge of the origins of the tub, in the ad she said it was from England and was worth 4k. But once speaking with her, she told me they acquired the tub because it was already in the house that they had bought.
Dear lucas,
Thank you for your request. This is a bath tub probably made in the first half of the 20th century. It is made out of enameled cast iron and stands on separated worked clawfoot feet. Also there is a mixer tab still installed. The market and the prices for cast iron bath tubes are a bit special. Often they are sold as remaining from demolished houses or in a high priced segment of interior design. This piece is not special or decorated enough to be positioned in the high priced segment. An estimation would be from 200 to 400 USD. The estimate is based on similar offered or sold at auction. "Asking prices" in the trade can be higher an vary.
Kind regards,
Georg
