White clay pipe decorated with foliage and flowers. Dimensions 13cms long x 2cms wide bowl. No Markings
Passed down from my mother who received it as a gift from her father.
This is an antique, unused tobacco pipe. It is made of white clay which was molded and has a decorative scrolling foliage decoration. The footed rest on the underside of the receptacle and angle of the receptacle indicates this was produced during the first half of the 19th century, between 1820 - 1860. Without a maker stamp, the origin and manufacturer cannot be definitively stated. It is possibly English or Continental. Though this has significant age and is in fine condition, white clay pipes do not sell for high prices at auction on today's market. The estimate is based on actual past auction sales of comparables on today's market.
