Prior research and local assessors deemed this 9 x 6 x 1 Crystal Bowl as clear polished k-9 optic crystaline. It weighs 8 pounds and in very good condition. A few scratches on the base. It is said to be made by the Gilden Home., few located on the web and cannot locate a past sale record. One For Sale record located at Houzz.com.
Purchased from a person who previously lived in France who suggested it's rarity and value. Discovered later that it was not a foreign piece. However, pressured to sale by others. ???
Good morning, Floyd,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
Could you please provide the link to the Houzz page you reference? I've looked for it and don't see it and would like to consider that in my valuations research.
Many thanks!
Delia
Ok, still there, search clear petal crystal bowl. houzz still present the
only offer. Nothing on maker Gilden e.g. production date etc.
I see it now. Seems this is likely to be something that may have been mass-produced and is not a rare, one-off thing. It is not an antique (the standard definition for an antique is that it needs to be 100 years old, or older; it may be a stretch to term this "vintage."
Houzz is a retail website; the values Mearto provides are "fair market" values, for auction purposes. The standard valuation formula from retail to "fair market" is the retail is 3 times a low estimate and 2 times a high estimate. Houzz is asking $1,385 (for ease, let's just round that to $1,400), so a fair-market value for your bowl would be $500-700, and it would be catalogued as follows:
An optic crystalline clear petal bowl
Made by Gilded Home, 20th Century
9 by 6 by 1 inches
$500-700*
*represents a fair-market value for auction purposes; retail or asking price may vary.
Please let us know if you have additional items to appraise, and thank you for using Mearto.
www.Houzz.com It's been a while so i'll search further if this is
unavailable.
