Columbian Copper Handled Pot/Pitcher Was gifted by a friend who was from Colombia over 40 years ago. We recall her saying she used it for coffee or chocolate. But at the top it's been a while and our recollection may not be accurate. There appears to be a mark to the upper right of the handle. It's a scripted "B".

Hi Francis,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This is a jug or olleta and it was made for melting chocolate to drink but making coffee in it also works!
I can't speak for where it was made - the letter "B" possibly refers to the unit of measure as that is where such denotations usually go. Owner initials/monograms usually go farther down on the side and are more centered whereas the maker's mark is usually on the bottom.
Copper vessels such as this have a large following but not a great value; given its size, this is worth $150-250.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique copper olleta
Possibly Colombian, 19th Century
Of baluster form with flaring rim and bulbous body engraved with a script "B" and with a single wrought iron handle.
6-1/2 inches high
CONDITION: This olleta is in good but worn condition, evidence of its longlasting durability and functionality.
PROVENANCE: Gift from a Colombian friend
$150-250*
