It measures 27.25"H X 22.25"W X 3.5"D. I believe the composition to be alabaster. There is a document on the back from The Franklin Fire Insurance Co. in Coshocton Ohio. We found where that office was open from 1829 to 1873. There is also a 1906 San Francisco newspaper stuffed in behind the composition keeping the wood off of the sculture itself. Thank you
has been in my family for as long as I can remember. My parents never told us anything about and we never asked.
Dear John,
Thank you for the additional images and your patience.
The presented object appears to be a bas-relief probably made out of a cast stone mass or gypsum with the measurements of 27.25" x 22.25". This relief is cast after the so-called "Cantoria" made between 1431 to 1438 by Luca ROBBIA DELLA (1400-1482) in the Florence Cathedral. This piece is framed in an oak frame and it was probably made in the late 19th century.
This piece is in good condition and there is no serious damage visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 150 to 350 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Georg
