Corner chair
Family
This is an antique late 19th to early 20th century carved wood corner chair or Chaise a bureau that is done in the Rococo Revival manner. A Chaise a bureau is denoted by the chair legs being placed at the front and rear and to the left and right of the seat so as to enable the chair to be set in a corner. These were also considered ideal for a male to sit in if he was wearing a sword to his side. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
