Thank you for contacting Mearto. These are two Mexican ceramic figures. They resemble Central and South American pre-Columbian figures that were used as guardian figures or grave goods. I am unable to give you a reliable date for these, unfortunately.
At auction, these figurines usually sell for between $100 to $150 each.
Hi Sabine,
There are lab tests that can be done on small samples of the material, but they are several hundred dollars, and I'm not sure how narrow the age range would be.
Alternatively, you could submit photos as a prospective seller to an auction house that specializes in pre-Columbian art. Sotheby's might be a good place to start. My knowledge is limited, but perhaps specialists in this genre could give you more details about stylistic periods.
Dear, thank you for your assessment. What would be your recommendation if I wanted to reliably date these sculptures?
