What does this mean?

Dear Doug,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The apprised object is a so-called "Tulwar" sword which was made in the 19th century in the North of India or Persia. This sword was made out of steel and probably brass inlay decoration. It would be very unusual that the inlay decor was made in gold.
This piece is in good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 150 to 300 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.

With best regards,
Georg
