Dale Chihuly Seaform
Classic Chihuly 2 pieces green “Seaform”, yellow edge, black and blue specks. Signed by the artist. The smaller Seaform is similar and nestles inside the larger one.

Our local Fine Art Center in Colorado Springs had a Chihuly exhibit in 2005, and they had some pieces on sale in their gift shop.

I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, glass quality and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Blown Seaform Glass Decorative Piece by the Well Known Glass Master Dale Chihuly. The piece is from his Seaform series which stretches from early 1980's to early 2000's. Although there are also studio editions from more recent years, this is a early 2000's Seaform from Chihuly likely made between 2000-2005. The piece is clearly inspired from the amorphic shapes of the oysters. As usual to this series the piece has a "double skin" which is a merged glass body composed of two relatively seperate pieces. In this piece, the larger pieces is very similar to smaller one in terms of design. The piece is dominantly Turquoise with black dots on the amorph pattern, the rim of the piece is yellow. The piece is very collectable and impressive. Very harmonious in design. The piece is in good condition without any visible problems.
Entirely hand blown glass.

I read Denizalp’s estimate for the Chihuly seaform, and I’m quite happy with it. I do have the certificate of authenticity/bill of sale from Portland Press (I guess the artist’s business platform) and I will send an electronic copy of it as soon as I can wrangle my new printer into doing it…
However, Portland Press recommends that I contact them before selling it so they can recommend venues to do so, and I want to do that as a second opinion. The certificate also obligates me to have the new buyer agree that he would also notify them should he want to sell it. I guess Portland Press wants to keep track of where the pieces are and who they belong to. However, the form was supposed to be sent back to them at the time of purchase, and that was never done. Ooops… My first husband who bought it for my 50th birthday must have forgotten that part at the time. How important do you think it is to do all this and what is my liability if NOT doing it. I mean, it’s been 17 years and Chihuly has thousands of pieces out there.
I know, it’s a bit thicker than I thought it would get… please let me know your thoughts.
