This vase was inherited from my grandparents. It is a pottery vase with four ladies dancing sculptured on the sides. The height, 10 1/4", width, 4 3/8 " at the top and 3 5/8" at the base. The widest part of the diameter is 16". There is a marking on the bottom that is unclear. There is a chip at the lip and two chips at the base. The color is dark brown with orange ladies and gold swirls.
Grandparents owned it. Unknown history.
Hi Leslee,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
This looks like it might have a faint Rookwood pottery mark (RP with rays - you can see lots here: https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/artist-signatures-on-rookwood-pottery-4121740) but I can't tell in the photo. Can you look and either let me know if that's the mark I'm seeing or maybe take a clearer photo?
Many thanks in advance,
Delia
After looking more closely it looks like and R with a v inside.
I looked at my Kovels pottery book it looks like the Roseville mark.
Thanks, Leslee,
I've found another identical vase that sold about 5 months ago, for $580 (https://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/84946290_roseville-rosecraft-panel-nude-vase-10-in)
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
A Roseville Rosecraft Panel Nude Vase
10 1/4 inches high, 4 3/8 inches diameter
PROVENANCE: inherited
$400-600*

Good Morning Delia. Thank you for responding so quickly. The mark looks like a capital R with a small r within it. The surrounding markings really do not look like a starburst as the Rookwood pottery mark. I am including clearer photos.
Thank you,
Leslee
