This large scroll is in a huge frame. A mechanism allows the viewer to turn the scroll so the "World History" timeline moves through the ages. I inherited it a year ago and was able to find a book about the scroll entitled "Wall Chart of World History" with subtitle "1890 Deacon's Synchronological Chart of Universal History drawn by Edward Hull". I have the new book and the old chart/scroll in its frame. I am curious of the appraisal value of this unique item.
43" wide, 35" high, and 6 1/2" deep
I inherited it from my cousin and it has been in the family for generations.
Dear Stephanie,
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
The presented object appears to be a cased Deacon's Synchronological Chart of Universal History by Edward Hull. The condition and coloring of the paper are arguments that this is a piece from 1890.
Comparable objects were recently offered and sold on the international auction market.
This piece is in medium condition and no severe damage is visible in the images provided.
A fair market estimation would be between 250 to 500 USD.
This estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparable items. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and may vary.
With kind regards,
Gregory
