Hello Abigail,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, porcelain quality and the colours, I concluded that this is an Entirely Hand Painted Antique Pickman China Opaca Sevilla Plate. This Pickman plate was made by Charles Pickman's Company who founded a ceramic factory in Spain in 1841. The company was awarded a gold medal award in Paris in th Exposition of 1878. The mark dates back to the period betwwen 1878-1880. The piece was hand painted by "Jose Muriel Mailar", likely a porcelain artist of the company. The piece depicts a Spanish Woman in her traditional clothes looking to the right side with a view of a terrace on the back as well as a picturesque garden. The execution of the painting is very well made and the face of the woman is professionally handled. The piece was not glazed rather was left as a "biscuit" unglazed porcelain. The paiting was also made on this surface, therefore it was more open to damages during the passed years. The piece has a Pickman China Opaca Sevilla molded mark under it, the mark also states the golden medal of 1878 on it's center. Made in Sevilla, a true piece of art. The piece has inscriptions on it's back as well, mostly unreadable without further examination. The piece is in very good condition despite it's age with small dignes of use and age.
Entirely hand painted.
Dimensions: 9 Inches of Diameter
Condition: The piece is in very good condition despite it's age with small dignes of use and age.
