Hi Paul,

Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.

The Disney Snow White 50th Anniversary gold coins were issued in 1987 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which premiered in December 1937, which was the first full-length cel-animated feature film produced in the United States. Created under the direction of Walt Disney, it was considered a massive financial risk at the time—critics called it “Disney’s Folly.” Instead, it became a groundbreaking success and established feature-length animation as a viable art form and industry.

By 1987, the film was widely regarded as one of the most important works in cinema history and a cornerstone of The Walt Disney Company. For the golden anniversary, Disney licensed commemorative collectibles, including gold coins and medallions featuring Snow White and each of the Seven Dwarfs, limited-edition anniversary designs (often marked “50th Anniversary 1937–1987”) and proof-quality finishes in presentation capsules or sets. These were typically private mint issues, not U.S. government legal tender coins. They were minted in 1/4-ozt and 1.0-ozt with yours being the larger, latter coin.

These coins were struck in 24K and 14K but if your coins are .999 gold, that's the equivalent of 24K.

Historically, these larger 1-troy ounce coins usually sell for between $1,500 to $2,500 when they come to auction but the price of gold is historically high - currently just under $5100 a troy ounce - that the group would have a melt weight of $56,083.50. That's probably higher than what a Disney collector or coin collector would be willing to pay for this set in the current market and certainly more than these would likely get at auction.

Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
