70in high by 13 3/4 in wide on each panel
Got it from a friend that owed me money several years ago
Hello, thank you for submitting an item for appraisal. This is an Anglo-Indian or Colonial single-sided carved five-panel room screen or divider. These were typically made of teak, though it is difficult to positively identify the wood and it could also be mahogany or another hardwood. It was probably made in the late 19th century, in any one of several countries in which England had colonized, including some of the Caribbean islands. The carving does not feature Indian or Chinese motifs frequently found on these kinds of screens but it appears to be in good condition, though the finish is dry and somewhat faded. These screens are often popular in the market, though they do not historically bring very much money. The splitting visible in several of the photos does not adversely affect the value significantly.
