Seems to be a very old, cast iron doctor or dentist chair. Covering I assume is leather. All appears to be in very good condition and all the levers work. No markings on it that I can see. Scroll work on some of the metal parts. Super heavy. Have owned it maybe 10 years or so.
Bought it years ago from a private owner in the suburbs north of Chicago. Now it's in Florida. Thought they said it was from an old dentist in the area.
Dear Mark,
Thank you for your request. The presented object is a dentist or barber chair with unknown measurements. The chair is made out of cast iron parts and has leather upholstery. The metal parts are lacquered and decorated in the style of the second half of the 19th century. This chair has a mechanism to adjust the gradient of the chair. Such a mechanism is common in the spheres of dentist and barber chairs. This piece shows the pedals which are a hint that this was more likely a dentist chair. The market for such an object is a bit difficult because of the low number of collectors and the unhandiness of this heavy chair.
This piece is in a surprisingly good condition and there are no serious damages visible.
An estimation would be between 1500 to 3000 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
