I have 5 regular chairs and one captain's chair. These are delicate mahogany chairs dating back I think to the 1940s. They were my Grandmother's. She bought at the same time a Craftique dropleaf dining table, a buffet and a 13 glass pane corner cabinet. She apparently didn't care for the chairs that came with the set and got these instead. I've never seen any with the carved fruit on top. They are similar to the Rosebud chairs but more ornate. All the chairs are in great condition. The original upholstery is underneath the current. I have the original paperwork and receipt for the table and other pieces but nothing on the chairs.
Came from my Grandmother who lived in Arlington, VA
Dear Amy,
Thank you for your request. Please add more and detailed images especially of the connection between the legs and the seating.
With kind regards,
Georg
Dear Amy,
Thank you for the additional images and your patience. The presented object is a set of 5 chairs. All chairs are made of mahogany and are decorated in the so-called Duncan Phyfe style. Duncan Phyfe was one of the leading chairmakers in the 19th century in America. These chairs are made out of mahogany and one of the sets of five has armrests. All chairs seem to be in good condition.
An estimation would be between 250 to 600 USD.
This estimation is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail "asking prices" can be higher and vary.
With best regards,
Georg
I've added more pictures. There are no numbers or engraving on the underside. I enclosed the picture of the the original description that came with the set but as you can see she didn't get the chairs described in the booklet -she purchased these but I have no information on them.
Thanks - Amy
