Description

The swimsuit was worn in the last sequence of the movie . The costume would have been made by MGM studios in Hollywood USA around 1952. It appears that the swimsuit was made of calico/cotton material with plastic ? fish scales sown on. The original colour was turquoise but it has faded over the years. There is still some evidence of the turquoise colour. My deceased mother in law nee Carole Mee was crowned Miss Teen Age of Victoria in 1953.and the prize was a trip to MGM Hollywood.USA. The swimsuit was given to Carole by Ester Williams ,herself, and MGM studios. Carole had a contract with 3. A.W radio ,for their Community Sevices Board .Many occasions she wore the swimsuit to raise money for the Royal Women’s Hospital around 1953. Paper cutting shown in photos.
