Wood carving of Indian Dancer. Detailed with genuine fur, leather, shells and turquoise. Hand painted.
16"s tall, just the wood carving. 19"s with feathers.
Owned by an Uncle. He traveled throughout the Southwest United States extensively and collected many Native American items. This is one of them, but I do not know which Indian nation it came from.
Hello Lynne ,
I’m very glad that you chose Mearto for your online appraisal,
Considering the photographs, overall pattern, material quality and the colours, I concluded that this is a Hand Made Contemporary Native American Figure made of Wood. The piece dates back to the period from 1990 to 2010's. The piece is styled as a Native American practicing rituals. The piece has clothes made of fabric and synthetic fur. Basic ritual items and accessories are also depicted hanging from the piece or on it. The piece stands on a small wood base which is a circular natural section of a branch. The face and hands of the piece are very contemporary in terms of painting and style. The piece has decorative value but it does not have collectible or a significant artistic value. The piece is in good condition without problems.
