The lock and hardware appear original or period. The box shows age-related wear, surface marks, small cracks, oxidation to the metal hardware, and wear around the inlay, but remains structurally intact. No restoration has been performed. The 1724 date appears original to the inscription, but the exact age, country of manufacture, function, wood species, and inlay material have not yet been professionally authenticated.
