This is an antique, circa 1900, Catholic Last Rites home altar featuring a plaster figural of the Pieta in a shadowbox with applied reverse glass framing around the figural. The box is intended for wall hanging. The drop front cabinet at the bottom, with a color lithograph reproduction print of The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, would hold the Holy Water and Communion for Last Rites when a person is too sick, invalid or ill to physically go to Church for Mass. This is not a Station of the Cross item. The estimate is for catalogue auction sale and is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary. Insurance and estate tax purpose appraisals will also vary and are not provided here.
