This Rocking chair has been in my family for approximately 100 years. It belonged to my grandparents who were married in 1918. My father believes that the chair dates from approximately 1760 in New England. That believe is based on information he received from a woodworker who he state was very excited about the chair and contacted an appraiser friend of his. The chair is approx 40” high and 20” at its widest Point. It weighs approx 10 lbs.
The chair belongs to my grandparents. I do not know where they obtained it from
This is a plank bottom, spindle back, Windsor style rocker in black paint with stenciled decoration on the top rail. This dates to just about 1820 and is not an 18th century rocker from the 1700s. Although this has age and American origin, these chairs are currently flat on the market. The estimate is based on actual recent past recorded auction sales of comparables. Retail 'asking prices' can be higher and vary.
