The Huastec effigy vessels that have come to market in the last 10 years have not brought as much as they once did - typically in the $300-500 range.
Based on the photos and information provided, and subject to examination, this is:
An antique Pre-Columbian earthenware or terracotta effigy water vessel
Huastec culture, Vera Cruz, circa 400-900 CE
Of circular section with flared lip, the cylindrical neck with figural attributes including "ears" and pierced "arm" handles, stylized polychrome whorl decoration characteristic with Echuatl and Quetzalcoatl.
9-1/2 inches overall height
CONDITION: This vessel appears to be in good condition with some expected wear commensurate to age.
PROVENANCE: Inherited
