Oak, Hand-carved, some evidence of wood worms
European furniture auction
This is a circa 1900 hand carved, low-set quarter-sawn oak chair in the Arts & Crafts, Rennie Mackintosh Glasgow style that was likely produced in the UK. This does not exemplify the Art Nouveau style. The low set chair may be indicative of a nursing chair, or it may be child-size; the scale is not discernable in the images. It is a provincial or vernacular hand constructed chair. The estimate is based on actual recent past auction sales of comparables.
