Painted with three Kangaroos. Light wood. Has 'Eric' hand written on right side.
My parents acquired it in the early 1970's, that is the only history I am aware of.
Greetings Julie,
Thank you for your submission to Mearto. What a beautifully painted boomerang! While boomerangs by Eric Namatjira have not been offered on the secondary market before, there are other examples by the same Namatjira surname which have been offered at auctions in Australia and it is these that I choose to compare your example to. One each by Ewald (1930 – 1984) and Albert Namatjira (1902 – 1959) have been offered at auction, it’s likely more appropriate to compare yours to Ewald as his timeline conforms more with your example but so few are on the market I want to look at both. The example by Ewald passed at auction when offered for A$300 opening bid and that by Albert also passed with a A$750 opening bid. This leads me to think that your example would likely sell at auction between $A200-$A250. Let me know if you have any questions about this and thank you again for the submission.
Kindest Regards,
Erin-Marie
