This has been identified as a Brass Etruscan Revival Period Box from Northern Italy with patina indicating age and oxidation. The lid depicts a dramatic scene of a chariot pulled by lions with figures (possibly mythological/divine) accompanied by other figures playing instruments. The underside of the lid is inscribed with the word ETRUSCAN. All four sides of the box are adorned with Griffin motifs bordered by geometric "star crosses" a common border decoration for the period. The bottom of the box features a unrefined "divot" on one end with a wire and two wire rings indicative of an attachment cistae type mechanism dating to the period.
