Dining room chairs. Set of 5.
A friend gave them to me. She bought them from antique store in Overland Park kansas for $1100 18 years ago. They had brought them over here from Europe but I have no other information. Set of 5. No markings that I can find.
Thank you for contacting Mearto with your appraisal inquiry.
You have 20th century reproductions of Louis XVI-style upholstered side chairs. Stylistically, the chairs have the Louis XVI-style segmented, fluted legs and carved crest rail at back. The chairs are lovely, but the newer reproductions are not as demanded by collectors as 19th century reproductions, or of course, actual period chairs. An antique dealer or "retailer" can charge what they like for the chairs. On the fair market, or at auction, the realized price likely would not meet with your expectations, based on what your friend paid for them. My estimate is for the 5 chairs in total. They are lovely though and I would suggest continuing to use them!
I’m an effort to find markings I have removed the underside burlap.
